What am I up to Now?

I am currently spending my time outdoors boating, fishing and following my passion with getting back to www.womenfishing.com and www.girlsfish.com.  I have been able to enjoy a variety of different locations with the exchange of the bass boat to the 31ft sunrunner this May.  Weekends have never been the same. It's nice to be able to go and enjoy any location you want to spend time at... throw and anchor and spend the night.  If the fish are biting then why leave? If there not there ... keep moving :D
I have also been very fortunate to have met someone incredible in my life... Rick in April of 2010. He is an incredible addition to our family and a great fishing buddy. Life has not been the same and his laughter has made everyday a smiling one.  We have had many excursions that we hope are just the start of our wonderful life together.
Unfortunately at the end of 2010 I was involved in a car accident and had to take a break from fishing for a while after suffering damage to my shoulders and arms in a car accident but after 9 months I am finally starting to be able to get back to some small fish.  As they say ... one fish at a time... So...so far 1 catch and it was less then 1 lb..(See picture below.. with big smile) but its a start and I was happy anyway...My physiotherapist says I can start catching "2 lbers soon".. Now for someone to tell that to the fish...!!!
So like I said this year I decided to changed in the bass boat and we went for a bigger boat to enjoy the summer hanging around in...  Next year we will pull the dinghy  :D

Fishing

I am passionate about Fishing and the BENEFITS that it provides!  Most people know me as the fishergirl.  14 Years ago I would have laughed at anyone that would even have suggested the possibility of me fishing, let alone LOVE fishing.
I was not raised with a fishing rod in my hand...  the closest that I ever got to the sport was when I was 9 years old.  I was running around playing  when we were up at Washago Beach and all of a sudden I felt a quick and painful pulling at my right hand.  I had not seen this young boy casting his fishing rod at the shoreline and as he tossed his line towards the water he actually had managed to catch me instead.  His hook was stuck into my nuckle on my middle finger and it became embedded.  With the hook in the bone, it now had to be cut out.  Not one of my happiest memories in my life and I still have the scar to prove it.
It's a good thing that I was finally able to get over it as fishing ended up becoming one of the most amazing healing experience that has changed my life.
When I realized that women had fallen through the cracks when it came to fishing gear, I decided to make girls fishing rods. (Although some say Why? Thye forget that majority of females have smaller hands and grips then males.)  I also saw an opportunity to help raise funds for Breast Cancer and the Pink Fishing Rod was created ... I had no idea that I was now going to be taking my passion and finding a new job... as I founded FisherGirl Inc. back in 2003. I left FisherGirl Inc in September 2007 when my parents both became ill with cancer and life took a new turn in my road.

I decided to then follow my dream and vision and take my writing and photography and form the online magazine www.womenfishing.com.

Combining my love for the outdoors and fishing and now having the opportunity to offer others the information about fishing and all of the benefits that it has through the website.
My goal is to encourage and inspire others to take the chance and explore the outdoors. I hope to share some of my experiences, whether they are good bad or just plain funny, fishing has given me it all. I know that I have never had so many amazing times in my life that I have had sitting on a shoreline or in the boat.
I call fishing my Hydrotherapy for the Soul. I hope that you have the chance to experience it too. ...........Catch my Passion. Edit Text
