I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to follow the Women's Bassmaster tournament trail. I was given

the opportunity to fish against some of the best female anglers in the inaugural year and it was the platform for me to want to go out and compete even more. As a rookie I not only had a great time but I actually made it to the money with a twentieth place finish and an eighth place finish making a historical mark for Canadian women.

Fishing on the first pro-female team in the U.S Angler Choice series was also an exciting time for Cindy Burnham and myself. Not only did we get the chance to fish professionally against the men, but we actually made our seat to the Classic... making history again.

Each tournament made me realize how many different techniques there really are and how difficult sometimes the conditions could be. However it also gave me the opportunity to learn along side some of the best female anglers in the world. I look forward to the having the opportunity to go out and seek more education on the waterways again this year.

The 2009 season awaits us. I only hope that I get to yell "Fish On!"

I am passionate about Fishing.! and most people know me as the fishergirl.

10 Years ago I would have laughed at anyone that even suggested the possibility of me fishing, let alone LOVE fishing.

I had never experienced fishing in my life. The closest I ever got to the sport was when I was 9 years old. As I was running around playing all of a sudden I felt a major pain in my right hand.

I hadn't noticed that a young boy was casting his rod at the shoreline and as he tossed his line in his hook had managed to stick into my nuckle on my middle finger and it became embedded. With the hook in the bone, it had to be cut out. Not one of my happiest memories and I still have the scar to prove it.

When I met my now husband Andre he introduced me to fishing and as I say "he really got me hooked".

Fishing has been an amazing healing experience that has changed my life. When I realized that women had fallen through the cracks when it came to fishing gear, I decided to make girls fishing rods. When I saw an opportunity to help raise funds for Breast Cancer, the Pink Fishing Rod was created and I founded FisherGirl Inc. in 2003.

I sold FisherGirl Inc in September 2007 so that I could follow my dreams and vision. I am now the founder of many online websites, a published writer and professional photographer combining my love for the outdoors and fishing.

My goal is to encourage and inspire others to the benefits of the outdoors through my websites www.womenfishing.com and www.theoutdoorsgirl.com

I hope to share some of my experiences, whether they are good bad or just plain funny.

Fishing has given me it all. I know that I have never had so many amazing times in my life that I have had sitting on a shoreline or in the boat. Each experience that I go out on has a moment that makes me realize how fortunate I am to have found my husband and he shared his love for this sport with me.

I call fishing my Hydrotherapy for the Soul. I hope that you have the chance to experience it too.
